Camel iconography has been used many chess games. In games where it doesn't represent a unique piece, it usually repesents a rook or bishop. (See the elephant and Indian chess for more details.)

The most common unique camel move, a one-by-three jump, dates back to Tamerlane chess at least. However, other games have had different moves for the camel.
